Rules & Guidelines

These rules and guidelines govern eligibility, nominations, and recognition for NXT Honors. They are established to ensure fairness, clarity, and consistency across all categories while reflecting the evolving nature of excellence across Africa’s cultural, creative, and professional industries.

1. Eligibility Period

All work submitted for consideration must have been released, broadcast, performed, published, or demonstrably active within the eligibility year defined for the current NXT Honors cycle. Activities or works outside the eligibility period are not eligible.

2. Nomination Process

Nominations may be submitted through public nomination channels, partner recommendations, or internal curatorial processes depending on the category.

All submissions must include accurate and verifiable information. NXT Honors reserves the right to request additional documentation or supporting materials to confirm eligibility.

3. Category Eligibility & Evaluation Criteria

Nominees must meet all applicable criteria for the category in which they are submitted. Meeting the criteria does not guarantee selection.

Film & Television Categories

Best Actor in a Film or Television Series

Have delivered a credited acting performance in a film or scripted television series released within the eligibility period.
Demonstrate significant screen time or narrative importance.
Show measurable impact through audience reception, critical response, or cultural relevance.
Be recognized for performance depth, consistency, and contribution to the overall production.

Best Actress in a Film or Television Series

Have a credited acting role in a film or scripted series released within the eligibility period.
Demonstrate strong character development and narrative relevance.
Show performance impact through audience engagement or critical recognition.
Exhibit consistency and professionalism across the project.

Best Film

Have been publicly released within the eligibility period.
Demonstrate excellence in storytelling, direction, performances, and production quality.
Show measurable audience reach, cultural relevance, or industry recognition.
Be produced or significantly associated with African talent or storytelling.

Best Scripted Series

Be a scripted television or streaming series released within the eligibility period.
Have aired or released a minimum number of episodes during the eligibility year.
Demonstrate narrative consistency, production quality, and audience engagement.
Show cultural relevance or sustained viewership impact.

Best Unscripted Series

Be a non-scripted or reality-based program released within the eligibility period.
Demonstrate originality of format and consistency in execution.
Show measurable audience engagement or cultural impact.
Meet professional production standards.

Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Film or Television Series

Feature a clearly defined ensemble cast with multiple credited principal roles.
Demonstrate strong on-screen chemistry and collaborative storytelling.
Show consistency of performance across the production.
Have been released within the eligibility period.

Outstanding Guest Performance in a Film or Television Series

Have appeared in a limited or guest role within a film or series released in the eligibility period.
Deliver a performance that significantly enhances the narrative.
Be clearly distinguishable from lead or recurring roles.
Receive notable audience or critical response.

Outstanding Television Personality

Have served as an on-screen television personality during the eligibility period.
Demonstrate consistent presence, professionalism, and audience connection.
Show measurable influence or recognition within television programming.

Music Categories

Best African Artiste

Have released music or delivered notable musical performances during the eligibility period.
Demonstrate strong reach across Africa or internationally.
Show measurable success through streams, performances, charts, or cultural impact.
Maintain consistent artistic output and relevance.

Best Rising Act

Be in the early or growth phase of their music career.
Have achieved notable visibility or momentum during the eligibility period.
Demonstrate clear audience growth, industry recognition, or breakout success.
Not have previously received major top-tier music awards.

Best Music Producer

Have produced multiple commercially or critically recognized works within the eligibility period.
Demonstrate sonic excellence, versatility, and consistency.
Show industry impact through collaborations, chart performance, or recognition.

Best Music Executive

Hold a leadership or executive role within the music industry.
Demonstrate measurable impact on artist development, business growth, or industry innovation.
Show ethical leadership and sustained influence during the eligibility period.

Best Content Creator

Create original digital content distributed on recognized platforms.
Demonstrate consistent output during the eligibility period.

Digital Impact Award

Use digital platforms to drive significant cultural, social, or commercial impact.

Best Talk Broadcast

Be a recurring talk-based program released during the eligibility period.
Demonstrate consistency in format and content delivery.

Outstanding On-Air Personality

Be a host or presenter in radio, television, or digital broadcast.
Demonstrate strong communication skills and audience connection.

Influence, Fashion & Culture Categories

Outstanding Brand Influencer

Have executed verified brand partnerships within the eligibility period.
Demonstrate authenticity and alignment between personal brand and partnerships.

Experience rapid growth in visibility or influence within the eligibility period.

Be a live or real-time event executed within the eligibility period.
Demonstrate excellence in planning, production, and audience engagement.
Show cultural relevance or industry recognition.

Outstanding Creative

Demonstrate originality and innovation across creative disciplines.
Show measurable influence or recognition.
Maintain consistent creative output during the eligibility period.

4. Selection of Winners

Categories may be determined through public voting, expert review, or internal assessment depending on the nature of the award.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Any individual involved in nominations or evaluation must disclose potential conflicts. Conflicted parties may be excluded from decision-making.

6. Ethical Participation

Any attempt to manipulate the process or submit false information may result in disqualification.

7. Rights & Usage

Nominees grant NXT Honors the right to use submitted materials for promotional and archival purposes.

8. Amendments

NXT Honors reserves the right to amend or interpret these guidelines as necessary.
